Cooking and Gardening Club

In Planting Club, we want to make something like this for our climbing plants, such as long beans, to grow up.
Today the children split into two groups. One group began painting the wooden slats for our climbing fence.
The other group re-potted some flowers and planted some carrot seeds in plastic bottles. We used plastic bottles because the ground soil is very sandy and dense which would make it difficult for carrots to grow. Instead the bottles were filled with fresh, loose soil which will give room for the carrots to grow.

Writing Rockets

Book Reviews
This week we looked at the features and structure of a good book review. We worked in small groups to write our own reviews. We chose a book, read it aloud together and began to write down our opinions. We hope to finish off our reviews next week.

Photo frames

In arts and crafts club we have begun making our own photo frames. The main decoration will be our initial which we have decorated with sequins.
They are looking good so far.

Re-digging Our Garden

Unfortunately we didn't have much success last term with growing vegetables in our garden. We found that the soil was very dry and sandy and not very good for growing. We have dug over our garden and this half term we are going to focus on growing flowers. We have got some tyres to plant in as we can fill the with nutritious compost which will help the plants to gown healthier.

Some children planted herbs in our new vertical garden.

Some children helped Kru Anne to plant flowers.

Other children spread compost on top of the soil to help add more nutrients.

We smelt the basil that KS1 cooking and plating club have grown by rubbing our fingers on the leaves.

Here are some of the flowers Miss Lavery bought for us to re-pot next week.

Here are the tyres which we will fill with compost and grow in.

Writing Rockets

This week we went up to the ICT suite and researched the Solar System. We noted down any interesting facts we found and then tried to write the information in sentences using our own words. We then shared our favourite facts...

Mini Pizzas

To make mini pizzas we had to grate the cheese, cut the ham and spread on the tomato puree. Then we cooked them for 10 minutes and they were delicious.

2 point perspective drawing

Today we looked at how to draw a street scene using 1-point perspective. This is a more advanced version of the 1-point perspective that we did last term. We had a good go at it and will continue this next week!
